The Race Relations (Amendment) Act 2000 provides an opportunity for the College to reaffirm its commitment to racial equality and clarify its race Equality Scheme.
Did you know that there are 6 “equalities” strands? They are:
Out of these, there is a requirement for Central College to produce
equality schemes for Race, Disability and Gender.
RELIGION OR BELIEF AND SEXUAL ORIENTATION STATEMENT Central College is committed to providing an environment which is free of discrimination on the grounds of religion or belief and sexual orientation. This policy statement forms one part of the College’s wider commitment to equality in all aspects of employment and learning.
AGE DIVERSITY STATEMENT The College is committed to providing a working environment in which all staff, learners and stakeholder feel respected and valued. The comprehensive Equal Opportunities Policy aims to prevent discriminatory practices based on age or seniority and seek to create a culture where staff, learners and stakeholders of all ages are encouraged to reach their full potential.
STAFF -EQUAL PAY STATEMENT Central College is committed to developing, maintaining and supporting a policy of equal opportunities in employment. As part of that principle the College believes that male, female and transgender staff regardless of age, race, ethnic origin, disability, staff category, sexual orientation, marital or parental status, or political belief, should receive equal pay for the same or broadly similar work, for work rated as equivalent and for work of equal value. This applies except where the difference in pay is genuinely due to a material factor which is not due to a difference of gender or any of the above.
Central College believes that it is good business practice to ensure that pay is awarded fairly and equitably and that our employees have confidence in our pay systems.
The College recognises that in order to achieve the principle of equal pay for employees doing equal work, it should operate a pay system that is transparent, based on objective criteria and free from gender bias.
STAFF - FLEXIBLE WORKING STATEMENT As outlined in the Equal Opportunities Policy, Central College is committed to developing, maintaining and supporting a policy of equal opportunities in employment. In the spirit of that policy the College is committed to engaging in constructive dialogue with members of staff wishing to explore the possibility of flexible working practices to arrive at a mutually beneficial agreement wherever possible.
